Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (formerly known as Amrita University), founded in 1994, is a private deemed-to-be-university and a distinguished institution situated in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is a multi-campus and multi-disciplinary university comprising six campuses and 15 constituent schools distributed throughout southern India. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is ranked 7th by NIRF 2024 in the Universities category.
In 2003, it became one of the youngest institutions to achieve deemed university status, granted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
