Assam University (AU), commonly referred to as Silchar University, was established under an act passed by the Parliament of India. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), AICTE, AIU, and has received accreditation from the NAAC. In the NIRF 2024 Ranking, Assam University was placed between 101-150 in the 'Overall' category, while it achieved 186 ranks in the Management category according to The Week 2023. Founded in 1994, Assam University is a central public university. The institution comprises over 40 departments across sixteen schools, collectively offering more than 100 courses at the UG, PG, and doctoral levels.
