• 1963: Dr. Patangrao Kadam became increasingly concerned about many Maharashtrian students who struggled to perform well in national entrance exams for the National Defence Academy and other competitive tests.
• 1964: The university was established in the older part of Pune city.
• 1996: Following the UGC's recommendation, the Government of India conferred the status of "Deemed to be University" upon a group of 12 colleges under Bharati Vidyapeeth, recognizing the university's academic excellence.
• 26th April 1996: A significant day for the BVP Pune community and its founder, Dr. Patangrao Kadam.
• 2005: The Government of India included seven colleges of Bharati Vidyapeeth located in various cities as constituent colleges of Bhartiya Vidya Peeth.
