CRSU was previously referred to as Kurukshetra University Post Graduate Regional Centre and was established in 2014 by the Government of Haryana. The University is recognized by the UGC and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. It has a total of six faculties offering PG programmes. The University has adopted six schools in Jind District, which include Government Senior Sec. School, Rajpura, Kasturbha Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Safa, Government Senior Sec. School, Bibipur, Govt. Senior Sec. School, Digana, Government Primary School, Dhani Bidwali, and Gopal Vidya Mandir Sen.Sec.School.
The University provides a dynamic curriculum that is developed based on research and global industry needs. CRSU offers UG and PG courses in Commerce, Management, Physical Science, Social Science, and Education. The flagship programmes at CRSU include MBA, MA, and BTech.

To fulfill this goal, CRSU has set up various cells and committees such as the Sports Council, RTI Cell, Yoga Cell, Research Cell, Health Centre, and more.CRSU has initiated the National Service Scheme to encourage voluntary work among students and teachers through community engagement.
