The Law Department at MDU was founded in 1978. It is affiliated with Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak and is recognized by the Bar Council of India. It is considered one of the top Law colleges in Haryana. The department provides a range of undergraduate programs - BA LLB (Hons), LLB, as well as postgraduate - LLM and postdoctoral PhD (Law) programs in the field of Law. Aspiring lawyers in India must pass the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) administered by the BCI. Upon successfully passing the AIBE, lawyers receive a ‘Certificate of Practice,’ which is essential for practicing as an advocate in India.
The LLM program is available in several specializations, including Criminal Law Group, Corporate Law Group, and Constitutional Law Group, each with an intake of 30 students. The Department of Law has a teaching faculty of 17 members. The Law Department at MDU Rohtak provides a range of University Merit Scholarships for meritorious and deserving students. These scholarships are awarded annually based on various results from University examinations. The University offers 20 different scholarship schemes for students across various departments of MDU.
