The Faculty of Law at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKVP) in Varanasi was founded in 1983. It is affiliated with MGKVP, Varanasi, and is approved by the Bar Council of India, as well as recognized by the state government. The institute provides undergraduate (LLB and BA LLB-Integrated Course), postgraduate (LLM), and postdoctoral (PhD) programs in the field of Law. It is acknowledged as one of the premier Law colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Aspiring lawyers in India must pass the All India Bar Exam (AIBE), which is administered by the BCI. Upon successfully passing the AIBE, lawyers receive a ‘Certificate of Practice,’ which is essential for practicing as an advocate in India. The faculty employs various teaching methods for different programs, including classroom instruction, field-based legal literacy programs, seminars, workshops, PowerPoint presentations, court visits, and dissertations. Notable recruiters include Axis Bank, Bharti AXA, HCL, Just Dial, Piramal Healthcare, Religare, Star Union Daiichi Life Insurance Co, and Utkarsh Microfinance Private Limited, among others. Both the State and Central Government provide numerous scholarships for meritorious students, as well as for those from SC/ST/OBC backgrounds.
