- On December 11, 1964, Late Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan laid the foundation stone on this 225-acre site at the Naulakha Parade Ground.
- The University was named in honor of Kailashwasi Shrimant Jiwajirao Scindia and officially established on May 23, 1964.
- Initially, the University started with 25 affiliated colleges, marking its territorial jurisdiction by extending its reach to Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur Kalan, Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar.
- Now, 47 years later, the University has grown from 25 affiliated colleges to 401, including government, government-aided, and private institutions.
