About MIT Chennai

The Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) is one of the four autonomous constituent colleges of Anna University. It is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and has received accreditation from the NBA and NAAC. Founded by Chinnaswamy Rajam, it was the first self-financing engineering institute in the country and later became part of Anna University. In the NIRF 2023 Ranking, the Madras Institute of Technology was placed 14th in the 'University' category. MIT has established MoUs with several international universities, including the Tokyo Polytechnic University in Japan and the University of Stuttgart in Germany, among others.
