The National Institute of Technology Agartala is ranked 82 by NIRF 2024 in the Engineering category and 26 by Media 2024 in the Engineering (Government) category. In 2006, the Government of India transformed the Tripura Engineering College into NIT Agartala. Agartala NIT is recognized by AICTE. Also referred to as NITA, NIT Agartala is situated in Agartala, Tripura. It operates as an autonomous institution under the NIT Act of Parliament. The National Institute of Technology Agartala is a centrally funded entity and is the 20th National Institute of Technology established in the country.
NIT Agartala has entered into multiple MoUs at both National and International levels with various institutions and organizations. The Institute has formed academic partnerships with IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, Jadavpur University, IIEST (formerly BESU), NITK Surathkal, NIT Warangal, among other prestigious institutes. Currently, NIT Agartala offers 13 departments providing PG, UG, and PhD programs. These programs span Engineering and several other fields. The flagship courses at NIT Agartala are BTech and MTech.
