Vellore Institute of Technology - Chennai Campus

Founded in 2010, Vellore Institute of Technology Chennai (commonly referred to as VIT Chennai) is an autonomous private institution. It serves as a constituent university of the VIT Group of Institutes. The institute is recognized by the UGC and has recently received re-accreditation from NAAC with an 'A++' grade. According to the NIRF Ranking 2024, VIT Chennai is ranked 10th for Best University, 11th for Best Engineering, and 13th in the Research category.

The Vellore Institute of Technology Chennai campus spans 192.13 acres and accommodates a student body of approximately 13,000, including individuals from various countries and all states in India. The faculty and staff at VIT Chennai comprise 508 and 137 members, respectively. VIT boasts a strong international presence and has partnerships with over 300 foreign universities. Students have the option to study for 2 years at VIT and 2 years at a partner university abroad. Additionally, students can participate in a semester abroad or engage in international research collaborations.

Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai offers 64 undergraduate, 35 postgraduate, 16 integrated, 2 research programs, and 2 MTech industrial courses. Furthermore, it provides full-time PhD programs in Engineering and Management disciplines, as well as PhD programs in Science and Languages and Integrated PhD programs in Engineering disciplines. The courses offered by the institute include BBA (Hons.), BCom (Hons.), BSc, BTech, Integrated MSc, LLM, BA LLB (Hons.), BBA LLB (Hons.), among others. Admission to VIT Chennai courses is based on both merit and entrance exams. The institute conducts VITLEE, VITMEE, VITREE, and VITEEE for admission to specific courses, and also accepts national or state-level entrance exams for admission.

During the VIT Chennai Placement 2025, a total of 3,160 offers were made, which included 2,192 unique offers and 1,457 regular offers. The institute provides its students with a wide array of infrastructural facilities, ranging from a digital library to separate hostel accommodations for both male and female students.
