Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU Nashik, YCMOU Digital University, or Maharashtra Open University Nashik), founded in 1989, is recognized as one of the premier institutions for distance and part-time education in India. Yashwantrao Maharashtra Open University is the fifth Open University established in India. YCMOU Nashik is acknowledged under section 12 (B) of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. YCMOU Digital University is affiliated with several esteemed associations and academic organizations, including the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), among others.

The Yashwantrao Digital University currently operates from its headquarters in Nashik, along with 8 regional centers located in Nashik, Pune, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Nanded, Amravati, and Nagpur, and 1711 Learner Support Centers (LSCs) established for 64 academic programs throughout the entire State of Maharashtra.

YCMOU Nashik provides over 100 courses at the UG, PG, and Research levels. Additionally, the university offers 35 Certificate and 29 Diploma programs across 8 schools. Admission to UG and PG courses (excluding MBA, MPH, and PhD) is based on merit in the qualifying examination. The university administers the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the MBA & MPH programs. YCMOU PhD admissions are determined by the PhD Entrance Test (PET) scores and a personal interview conducted by the university.
