The CHAMPS Initiative at Amity University Online Assists Athletes in Advancing Their Education

Amity University Online (AUO) is making significant strides in supporting athletes who wish to pursue higher education while managing their sporting careers. Through its flexible online degree programs and the CHAMPS initiative, the university is enabling sportspersons to balance their academic pursuits with rigorous training and competition schedules. This approach allows students to study from any location, accommodating their unique needs as athletes.

The CHAMPS (Celebrating Heroes with Amity Merit Program) initiative is a cornerstone of AUO's support for athletes. It provides dedicated academic assistance and guidance, ensuring that eligible sportspersons can receive up to a 100% tuition fee waiver. This financial support is crucial for athletes who want to focus on their sports while continuing their education, thereby fostering a dual career path that is often challenging to navigate.

As a testament to its commitment, AUO is proudly represented by 14 learners at the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026. These athletes are competing in various disciplines, including boxing, cycling, and weightlifting, while simultaneously enrolled in online undergraduate, postgraduate, and certification programs. This unique opportunity allows them to excel in their sports without sacrificing their educational goals.

Among the boxing representatives for India are Aditya Pratap Yadav, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in the Men's 65 kg category, and several female boxers, including Kapil Pokhariya, Jaismine Lamboria, and Sakshi Chaudhary, all enrolled in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. Additionally, Arundhati Choudhary is also pursuing a Bachelor of Arts while competing in the Women's 70 kg category.

The cycling team features athletes such as David Beckham Elkatohchoongo, Rojit Singh Yanglem, and Sekhon Harshveer Singh, all of whom are studying Sports Psychology. In weightlifting, competitors like Rishikanta Singh, M. Raja, and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu are also enrolled in the Sports Psychology program. This comprehensive support system exemplifies AUO's dedication to nurturing the academic and athletic aspirations of its students.
