CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Examination 2026 Takes Place Today; Review Guidelines for Exam Day and Anticipated Result Announcement Date

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 12 supplementary examination on July 28, 2026, catering to approximately 1.63 lakh students who were placed in the compartment category. This examination followed the release of the CBSE Class 12 board results, which reported an overall pass percentage of 85.20 percent. The supplementary exam was organized in a single shift across various centers nationwide, ensuring that students had the opportunity to improve their scores in core subjects, vocational subjects, and select skill and elective subjects.

The schedule for the exam was structured to accommodate different subjects, with core subjects being held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, vocational subjects from 10:50 am to 1:30 pm, and certain skill and elective subjects from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. In an effort to maintain the integrity of the examination process, CBSE implemented strict rules prohibiting the use of mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and other electronic devices within the exam halls. Students were warned that any violations of these rules would result in disciplinary action under the Unfair Means (UFM) guidelines.

Students can expect the results of the Class 12 supplementary exam to be released in August 2026, a few weeks after the examination date. The results will be made available on the official CBSE result portals. Those who successfully clear their compartment subjects will receive an updated marksheet that reflects their pass status, while their previously secured practical and internal assessment marks from the main exam will be carried forward without the need for re-evaluation.

CBSE allows students up to three attempts to clear a compartment subject. If a student does not pass in the July attempt, they will have a second opportunity in March or April of the following year, coinciding with the next main board examination cycle. A final attempt can be made in July or August of the same year. Should a student fail all three attempts, they will be classified as an "Essential Repeat" candidate, necessitating their reappearance for all subjects in the subsequent annual examination.
