The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced a significant change to the operational schedule for the upcoming ICSE Class 10 board examinations in 2027. Moving away from the traditional 11 AM start time, the board has confirmed that examinations will now commence at 10 AM. This adjustment is designed to improve the management of examination logistics for schools, particularly when both ICSE and ISC papers are scheduled on the same day.
By shifting the start time earlier, the council aims to reduce the congestion and administrative pressure that schools previously faced when transitioning between morning and afternoon exam sessions. The new schedule is expected to provide a more efficient environment for both students and examination staff, ensuring that the transition between the Class 10 and Class 12 exam cohorts is handled with greater ease.
Under the revised format, students will be provided with a 15-minute window to review their question papers starting at 10:00 AM. The writing portion of the examination will officially begin at 10:15 AM. Depending on the specific subject requirements, a two-hour examination will conclude at 12:15 PM, while a three-hour paper will finish at 1:15 PM. This change also necessitates an adjustment in the protocol for schools regarding the collection of question papers, which must now be retrieved from designated banks between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM, depending on the school's proximity to the collection point.
While the specific dates for the 2027 board examinations are yet to be finalized, the CISCE is expected to release the official date sheet on its website, cisce.org, in the near future. Tentative projections suggest that the examinations will take place between February and April 2027. Once published, the date sheet will provide comprehensive details, including subject-specific dates, exam day guidelines, and essential instructions for candidates appearing for both the ICSE and ISC examinations.
As the board prepares for the 2027 cycle, students are encouraged to monitor the official CISCE website for the release of the formal timetable. When the document becomes available, it will be accessible in PDF format, allowing students to download and review their specific exam schedule. The board emphasizes that there is no negative marking for incorrect answers, and the examination structure remains consistent with previous years, covering five subjects.
Candidates are reminded that the admit card is a mandatory document for entry into the examination hall. Failure to present the admit card will result in students being barred from appearing for their papers. In addition to the admit card, students should ensure they are equipped with all necessary stationery, including pens, pencils, rulers, and geometry sets, as required by their specific subjects. Further updates regarding the final examination calendar will be communicated through official channels as the board nears the commencement of the 2027 testing period.
