The Haryana Cabinet has officially approved a bill to establish Masters Union University in Gurugram, a significant step aimed at enhancing higher education opportunities within the state. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, marking a pivotal moment for educational development in Haryana.
The proposed university will be established by the Shanti Foundation Trust, a charitable and non-profit organization based in Gurugram. This initiative is expected to not only broaden access to higher education for students in Haryana but also to encourage greater participation from the private sector in improving the quality and capacity of the state's educational framework.
According to the proposal, the university will be constructed on approximately 5.14 acres of contiguous land in Gurugram, which already features a built-up area of nearly 1.07 lakh square feet. The campus will include instructional, administrative, and student amenity spaces, designed to meet the needs of a modern educational institution. The sponsoring trust has secured the property on a 30-year lease, ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is in place for the establishment of the private university.
The proposal underwent thorough examination under the provisions of the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006, with relevant statutory committees reviewing the application. Both the Academic Committee and the Finance Committee assessed the proposal, while a committee led by the Chairperson of the Haryana State Higher Education Council recommended the issuance of a Letter of Intent, contingent upon meeting specific conditions.
Once the amendment bill is passed, Masters Union University will officially join the ranks of Haryana's private universities, contributing to the state's educational landscape. This development is anticipated to play a crucial role in shaping the future of higher education in Haryana, providing students with more options and fostering an environment of academic excellence.
