The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) welcomed a total of 460 students to two of its flagship programmes.Out of them, 414 joined the 62nd batch of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and 46 became part of the 26th batch of the Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agribusiness Management (PGP-FABM).Where do these students hail from? They come from diverse backgrounds, age groups, and work experiences. The campus held a special inaugural event to welcome them, attended by faculty, staff, and institute leaders.What’s special about this year’s PGP batch?It has 50% students from engineering and 50% from non-engineering backgrounds.30.6% of the students are female.The average work experience is 25 months.27% are freshers, while 73% have prior work experience in different fields.PGP and PGP-FABM Batch Profile 2025–27:The 2025–27 PGP batch has an equal split of 50% students from engineering and non-engineering backgrounds. Around 30.6% are female students. The average work experience is 25 months, with 27% freshers and 73% having prior experience.In the PGP-FABM batch of 46 students, 45.65% are female and 54.35% are male. All come from agriculture-related fields. The batch has an average of 20 months of work experience, with 60% freshers and 40% experienced candidates. The average age in both programs is 23.Support for Differently Abled StudentsThe PGP Class of 2025–2027 includes many differently-abled students. The institute promotes inclusive education through its Equal Opportunity Office (EOO), which works closely with these students to support their unique needs. Facilities provided include Apple iPads, motorised wheelchairs, special software, high-res laptop cameras, and other necessary tools for campus life.Director’s Message to New StudentsProfessor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIMA, welcomed the diverse new batch by urging them to work together and learn from each other. “You have come from a variety of backgrounds, including commerce, various liberal arts disciplines, engineering, chartered accountancy, company secretaryship, and so on, and bring different kinds of strengths with you.
