IIM Bangalore Secures Top 25 Spot in FT Masters in Management 2026 Rankings

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has achieved a significant milestone in the latest Financial Times (FT) Masters in Management (MiM) 2026 rankings. The institute has secured the 21st position globally, marking a notable rise of seven places from its 28th rank in the previous year. This achievement solidifies IIM Bangalore's status as the only Indian business school to feature within the top 25 institutions worldwide.

The ranking evaluates the two-year full-time Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) offered by the institute. This upward trajectory in the global standings reflects a consistent improvement in the school's performance over the past three years, highlighting its growing influence and reputation among internationally recognized management education providers.

Key Performance Indicators and Career Outcomes

The Financial Times methodology for the Masters in Management ranking is comprehensive, assessing institutions across 19 distinct criteria. The final score is derived from a combination of school-provided data, which accounts for 44% of the weight, and direct feedback from alumni, which contributes 56% to the overall assessment. Key metrics include employment rates, return on investment, internationalization, and diversity initiatives.

IIM Bangalore demonstrated substantial progress across several career-focused parameters. The institute saw a marked improvement in its Career Progress rank, which rose to 69 from 90 in the 2025 assessment. Additionally, the effectiveness of the school's career services was recognized with a ranking of 8, up from 11 the previous year. The strength of the institution's alumni network also saw a significant boost, climbing to 19th place globally, compared to 31st in the prior ranking cycle.

Institutional Growth and Strategic Focus

Beyond career-related metrics, the institute has made strides in diversity and sustainability. The representation of women on the board increased to 44%, up from 40% in the previous year. Furthermore, the school improved its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Net Zero Teaching rank, moving to 74 from 86. These figures underscore the institution's commitment to evolving its curriculum and operational standards to meet global expectations.

Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director-in-charge of IIM Bangalore, noted that the rankings reflect the transformational impact of the education provided at the institute. He emphasized that the school benchmarks its teaching methods and curriculum against global standards to ensure graduates are well-prepared to handle complex business environments. The focus remains on equipping students with both critical judgment and curiosity, a strategy that the leadership believes is directly validated by the positive career outcomes reported in the latest FT data.
