IIT Bombay Announces UCEED and CEED 2027 Registration Schedule

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has officially announced the registration schedule for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) and the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) for the 2027 academic cycle. Prospective candidates looking to pursue design programmes through these national-level examinations can begin their application process starting October 1, 2026.

According to the official notification, the online registration portal will go live at 1:00 PM on the opening date. IIT Bombay has structured the application window to include both a regular fee period and a subsequent late fee phase, providing flexibility for students who may miss the initial deadline. The entrance examinations for both UCEED and CEED 2027 are scheduled to be conducted on January 17, 2027.

Application Deadlines and Fee Structure

Candidates aiming to register for UCEED or CEED 2027 must complete their submissions within the stipulated timeframes. The window for applications with the standard regular fee opens on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM and will remain active until 11:59 PM on October 31, 2026. For those unable to complete the process during this period, a late fee window will be available starting November 1, 2026, and will conclude on November 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

IIT Bombay has indicated that further comprehensive details regarding the examination programmes will be released on the official portal on October 1, 2026, coinciding with the start of the registration process. Applicants are advised to monitor the official website regularly for updates and detailed instructions on the submission procedure.

Eligibility Criteria and Examination Requirements

The eligibility criteria for UCEED 2027 include specific age and academic requirements. Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2002, though a five-year age relaxation is provided for applicants belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories. Academically, students must have passed all five subjects in their 10+2 or equivalent examination in either 2026 or 2027. Notably, the examination is open to students from all academic streams, including Science, Commerce, and Arts and Humanities.

In contrast, the CEED 2027 examination does not impose an upper age limit, and candidates are permitted to attempt the test an unlimited number of times. As the examination date of January 17, 2027, approaches, candidates are encouraged to prepare using the relevant design awareness topics and ensure all documentation meets the specified requirements before the registration deadlines.
