IIT Dharwad and NITK Surathkal Formalize Agreement to Enhance Academic and Research Partnership

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dharwad and the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal have formalized their commitment to collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This significant agreement was executed during the 67th Foundation Day celebrations of NITK Surathkal, marking a pivotal moment in the partnership between the two esteemed institutions. The MoU was signed by Prof. Venkappayya R. Desai, Director of IIT Dharwad, and Prof. Ravi B., Director of NITK Surathkal.

The primary objective of this MoU is to enhance cooperation in various academic and research domains. Both institutions aim to foster joint research initiatives, facilitate faculty and student exchange programs, and engage in industry-sponsored research and development activities. This collaboration is expected to create a robust framework for academic innovation, allowing both IIT Dharwad and NITK Surathkal to leverage their strengths in research and education.

In addition to joint research projects, the MoU will support a range of academic activities, including consultancy projects, workshops, and conferences. During the Foundation Day celebrations, Prof. Venkappayya R. Desai served as the Guest of Honour, where he emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence with emerging technologies and traditional knowledge. As an alumnus of NITK Surathkal from the MTech 1986 batch, he encouraged current students and institutions to embrace these advancements while drawing inspiration from historical educators such as Swami Vivekananda, Adi Shankaracharya, and Gautama Buddha.
