The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar celebrated its 15th convocation, conferring degrees to a total of 761 students. The ceremony, which took place recently, showcased the institute's commitment to academic excellence, research advancements, and expanding collaborations. Graduates included a diverse group from various programs, comprising 377 Bachelor of Technology (BTech), 177 Master of Technology (MTech), 65 Master of Science (MSc), one Bachelor of Science (BSc), one diploma student, and 140 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidates.
In addition to the degree conferral, IIT Ropar announced a significant overhaul of its undergraduate curriculum, set to be implemented in the 2026-27 academic session. This new curriculum is designed to offer students increased flexibility and opportunities to delve into their areas of interest. Under the revised structure, students will complete their core courses by the end of their third year, allowing them to utilize their final year for electives, internships, research projects, and entrepreneurial activities.
The institute emphasized that these changes aim to foster a more student-centric learning environment, encouraging practical and research-oriented experiences. The new curriculum reflects IIT Ropar's dedication to adapting educational practices to better meet the needs of its students and the evolving demands of the job market.
Satyanarayan Nuwal, the Founder Chairman of Solar Industries India Limited, served as the chief guest for the convocation ceremony. Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman of the IIT Ropar Board of Governors, presided over the event, which was marked by a sense of pride and accomplishment among the graduates and faculty alike.
The 15th convocation of IIT Ropar not only celebrated the achievements of its students but also set the stage for a transformative educational experience in the years to come.
