JEE Main 2027 and CBSE Class 12 Exam Schedule: Addressing Potential Date Clashes

With the National Testing Agency (NTA) having officially released the schedule for the JEE Main 2027 examinations, many students are now turning their attention to the upcoming CBSE Class 12 board exams. Given that a significant number of candidates appear for both assessments in the same academic year, concerns regarding potential scheduling conflicts have naturally emerged among the student community.

However, based on historical patterns and the current NTA announcement, a major overlap between the two examination cycles appears unlikely. While the NTA has set clear dates for its entrance sessions, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has yet to publish its official date sheet for the 2027 board examinations.

Understanding the Exam Timelines

The NTA has confirmed that JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will take place on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28. Following this, Session 2 is scheduled to be conducted from April 2 through April 7, 2027. In contrast, CBSE Class 12 board exams are traditionally held across February and March. If historical trends continue, core science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are typically scheduled during the February and March window, while other subjects often follow later in the spring.

Because the JEE Main sessions are positioned in late January and early April, they fall outside the primary window usually occupied by the CBSE board exams. This separation is intended to provide students with a buffer, allowing them to focus on their board preparations without the immediate pressure of an entrance exam during the peak of their school assessment period.

Next Steps for Candidates

For students currently balancing both sets of preparations, the most important step is to monitor official channels for the release of the CBSE date sheet. Once the board announces its specific subject-wise schedule, candidates will be able to map out their study plans with greater certainty. In the meantime, the registration process for JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is currently active, with the deadline to submit applications set for November 22, 2026. Registration for Session 2 is scheduled to commence on January 5, 2027.
