NEET UG Counseling 2026: NMC Reveals Significant Modifications to PwBD Regulations; Review the Official MCC Guidelines PDF

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a crucial notification regarding the NEET UG 2026 counselling process for students with disabilities (PwBD), in accordance with the updated guidelines from the National Medical Commission (NMC). This announcement is particularly significant for candidates seeking admission to MBBS programs under the PwD quota, as it introduces new requirements for obtaining an eligibility certificate from designated MCC centres.

According to the MCC's latest update, candidates must now adhere to a function-oriented evaluation system, which assesses their ability to perform essential tasks required in medical education. This marks a departure from previous practices where admission was based solely on the percentage indicated on disability certificates. Only those candidates who successfully secure the NEET 2026 Eligibility Certificate will be able to access PwD options on their counselling portal.

To obtain this eligibility certificate, PwBD students with a benchmark disability of 40% or more are required to visit an authorized MCC assessment centre. The necessary documentation for this process includes a permanent Unique Disability ID (UDID) card, among other specified documents. The MCC has emphasized the importance of compliance, warning that any instances of document forgery will result in immediate cancellation of allocated medical seats and potential criminal charges against the offenders.

For students who are allocated seats under the 85% state quota, evaluations will be conducted at state assessment boards, which are mandated to follow the new centralised NMC guidelines during their scrutiny processes. This ensures a uniform approach to assessing candidates across different states, maintaining the integrity of the admissions process.
