Maharashtra Engineering Admissions Rise by Over 15,000 for 2026-27 Academic Year

The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for engineering courses in Maharashtra has concluded for the 2026-27 academic year, revealing a notable increase in student enrollment. Official data indicates that a total of 1,81,927 students successfully secured admission into engineering programs across the state, representing a rise of 15,181 admissions compared to the 1,66,746 students enrolled during the previous year.

This year’s admission cycle saw 2,51,726 candidates register for engineering seats across 387 colleges affiliated with 17 universities in Maharashtra. The total intake capacity across these institutions stood at 2,21,646 seats, with 2,03,293 of those allocated through the state’s Centralised Admission Process.

Breakdown of Admission Rounds and Vacancies

The admission process was conducted through four distinct CAP rounds, which collectively facilitated 1,40,554 enrollments. The final round, CAP Round 4, proved to be the most active, accounting for 48,689 admissions. In comparison, Round 1 saw 31,632 students admitted, followed by 30,304 in Round 2 and 29,929 in Round 3.

Beyond the primary CAP rounds, additional pathways were utilized to fill remaining seats. The institutional-level admission process resulted in 27,472 enrollments, while the management quota accounted for 13,473 admissions. A further 189 students were admitted through specific categories, including the Jammu and Kashmir and AICTE quotas.

Despite the overall growth in student intake, a significant number of engineering seats remain unfilled. Following the completion of both the CAP and institutional-level rounds, 29,042 seats across the state have been reported as vacant. This figure includes 26,682 vacancies within ACAP seats and 2,360 seats that were designated under the management quota.
