Located in Kurukshetra, the National Institute of Design (NID) Haryana is a top design school founded on November 15, 2016. Operating under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, NID Haryana, recognized as an Institute of National Importance under the National Institute of Design Act, 2014, The institute aspires to be a worldwide leader in design education and research, therefore supporting creative design solutions for development sectors, commerce, and industry.
The extensive four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program offered by NID Haryana includes specializations in:
Design for Industry
Design of Communication
Design of Textiles and Clothing
A two-semester Foundation Program that emphasizes basic design concepts and abilities kicks off the curriculum. Following that, students take six semesters of specialized coursework in the field of their choice. The teaching approach of the institute fosters a practical understanding of design applications by integrating industry and field exposure.
Procedure for Admission
The NID Design Aptitude Test (NID-DAT), a two-stage national entrance exam, is used to admit students to the B.Des. program. Through a pen-and-paper exam, the first stage, NID-DAT Prelims, evaluates general aptitude and design. Qualified candidates move on to the NID-DAT Mains, which consists of a portfolio review, in-studio design test, and in-person interview. Candidates must have earned a Plus Two diploma or its equivalent. There are 11 seats available for international students and 75 seats available for Indian students each year.
