The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is preparing to launch the counselling process for NEET PG 2026, which will facilitate admissions into 50% All India Quota (AIQ) MD and MS seats across the country. While the official schedule remains pending, students are advised to monitor the official MCC website for updates regarding the registration timeline and the comprehensive round-wise counselling plan.
Although the committee has not yet published a formal start date or time for the registration window, industry expectations point toward a mid-October commencement. This timeline aligns with the recent declaration of the NEET PG 2026 results on September 24, followed by the release of scorecards and answer keys on October 1. Authorities have previously indicated that the admission schedule is expected to remain on track despite the timing of the results.
The MCC is responsible for managing the allocation of 50% AIQ postgraduate medical seats, as well as seats within central universities, deemed universities, and other specific institutions. For the remaining 50% of seats, individual states will oversee their own respective counselling procedures. Candidates are permitted to participate in both the central and state-level counselling processes; however, they must adhere to strict regulations regarding seat acceptance. If a candidate is allotted a seat in both systems, they are required to select one and formally resign from the other to maintain compliance with admission rules.
To assist candidates in their planning, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has already made the seat matrix for MD and MS courses for the 2026-27 academic session available. This information is a critical resource for students as they prepare their preferences for the upcoming rounds. As the process moves forward, the MCC will release specific details regarding the registration link, choice filling, and seat allotment results on its official portal. Candidates should regularly check the official website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the counselling schedule.
