Tentative Allotment for TNEA 2026 Round 2 Released; Upcoming Counseling Dates Announced

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) in Tamil Nadu has announced the release of the tentative seat allotment for Round 2 of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 on August 7. Candidates who participated in this round of counselling can now access the official counselling portal to check their allotment status by logging in with their registered email ID and password. This tentative allotment has been determined based on various factors, including the candidate's rank, reservation category, choices made during counselling, and the availability of seats.

Those candidates who have received a tentative allotment are urged to verify the details of their assigned college and branch by August 8. It is crucial for them to complete the confirmation process within the specified deadline, as only candidates who confirm their willingness to accept the allotment will be considered for the final allocation. The provisional allotment for candidates who select the "Accept & Join" option will be published on August 9, following which candidates must log back into the TNEA counselling portal to confirm their acceptance.

For candidates satisfied with their allotted seats, it is essential to complete the confirmation process and download the allotment order once the final allotment is released. Those who choose the "Accept and Upward" option will receive a tentative allotment order and must report to the nearest Tamil Nadu Facilitation Centre (TFC) within the timeframe specified in the allotment order. They are required to pay the tuition fees and submit their original certificates to secure their current seat.

Failure to report or pay the required fees will be interpreted as a lack of willingness to join, resulting in the cancellation of the allotment order. Such candidates will forfeit their allotted seats and will not be eligible for subsequent counselling rounds. If no better options are available during the upward movement, candidates will retain their previously allotted choices, provided they have completed the necessary fee payment at the TFC.

The TNEA 2026 counselling process is set to conclude in September 2026. Admission to BE/B.Tech programs in Tamil Nadu is conducted through this online counselling process, with no state-level entrance exam required. Candidates who have completed or are currently completing their 10+2 education can apply for TNEA counselling, which is based on their marks in relevant subjects—Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry—scaled to a total of 200. The counselling process includes several steps, such as registration, random number assignment, certificate verification, publication of the rank list, choice filling, allotment, and final reporting to colleges or TFCs for fee payment and document submission.
