The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC) has clarified the reservation rules for 17,735 Assistant Teacher vacancies in non-government aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. The commission has stated that reservation will be calculated separately for each school and not on the combined number of vacancies across the state.
The clarification, issued on October 27, follows the circulation of unverified claims about the reservation process on social media and other platforms. The commission has urged candidates and the public to rely on official announcements and avoid sharing misleading information.
UPESSC Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026: How Will Reservation Be Calculated?
According to the commission, the Directorate of Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh, compiled vacancy details from non-government aided secondary schools across the state. The information was categorised school-wise, subject-wise and according to reservation categories.
UPESSC explained that each non-government aided secondary school is treated as a separate unit for recruitment purposes. The management of the respective school serves as the appointing authority and is responsible for teacher appointments.
Consequently, reservation will be applied separately to vacancies reported by each school, in accordance with the applicable rules and the number of sanctioned posts at that institution. Vacancies across different schools will not be combined to calculate reservation at the state or directorate level.
The commission's clarification is intended to address confusion over how reservation applies to the ongoing recruitment drive for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) posts.
Commission Urges Candidates To Avoid Unverified Claims
UPESSC said misleading claims about the reservation mechanism had been circulating on social media and other platforms. The commission has advised candidates and members of the public not to believe or forward unverified information concerning the recruitment process.
The commission also noted that the Uttar Pradesh government had issued a clarification through its official social media handle, E-Gyan Ganga-U.P.
Candidates seeking information about the 17,735 Assistant Teacher vacancies have been advised to follow official recruitment notices and announcements for accurate updates.
The recruitment notification for the posts was advertised on October 23, 2026. Candidates should refer to the official UPESSC website for the detailed notification, vacancy information, eligibility conditions and other recruitment-related instructions.
