The institute is recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and all courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), ensuring high-quality education and industry relevance.

The college offers a comprehensive range of programs, including BTech and ME courses. The BTech program features six specializations, while the ME program includes three specialized areas of study, catering to diverse student interests and career goals.

IIST Indore also provides BTech lateral entry admissions, allowing students to directly enter the 2^nd year of the program.
Admissions for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses are based on JEE Main and GATE scores, respectively, ensuring a merit-based selection process.
Lateral admissions are granted based on the marks obtained in the Diploma program, facilitating a smooth transition for diploma holders.
Candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance exam must apply for centralized counseling conducted by DTE Madhya Pradesh. IIST BTech Admission Counselling Process 2024

The admission counseling for the BTech program is conducted in multiple phases to accommodate all eligible candidates.

First phase:

Second phase (QE-Qualifying Exam):

This phase is for students who were unable to take the JEE but possess qualifying marks in their Higher Secondary examination and have applied for participation in the online counseling process of DTE.
