As the first university in Kerala and one of the earliest in the nation, Kerala University is recognized by the UGC and holds an 'A++' accreditation from NAAC, achieving a score of 3.67 out of 4. In the NIRF 2024 rankings, the university is positioned 9th in the 'State Public University' category and 21st in the 'University' category.

Kerala University comprises 150 affiliated colleges, 16 faculties, and 41 departments dedicated to Teaching and Research.
