Founded in 2014, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (also known as Kerala Technological University KTU) is a state university situated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The university is named in tribute to the former president of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. It is recognized by AICTE and UGC and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in popular fields such as BTech, BArch, BHMCT, MTech, M.Arch or MPlanning, MBA, and MCA.

The university offers a variety of facilities for its students, staff, and visitors, including a library, hostels, guest house, canteen, and more. KTU has approximately 37 colleges accredited by NBA. As of 2019, the university has over 150 affiliated colleges across the entire state of Kerala.

KTU Thiruvananthapuram Admission Process 2024

Admissions at KTU are determined by the scores achieved in the entrance examination conducted by the Commission for Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala. The admission criteria for the courses offered by KTU are as follows:

  • Admission to the BTech program is based on the KEAM entrance exam followed by a counseling session.
  • Candidates must pass the NATA exam for BArch admission, which is administered by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA).
  • Admission to the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) is based on an entrance exam conducted or approved by KTU.
  • For the MBA program, admissions are based on a valid score in CAT/KMAT/CMAT, followed by a personal interview.
  • The reservation policy established by the Government of Kerala and the Government of India is applied for MBA admissions.
  • Selection of candidates for the MTech program is conducted centrally or overseen by the Directorate of Technical Education in accordance with the guidelines set by the Government of Kerala.
  • For MCA, selection is based on the Kerala CEE exam followed by a personal interview.
  • Candidates for M.Arch are chosen based on merit in the undergraduate level examination.
  • Admission is confirmed only after meeting all the requirements specified in the admission letter and the payment of the respective course fee.
