About NALSAR

The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research, commonly referred to as NALSAR University of Law, is a National Law University situated in Secunderabad, Hyderabad. Established in 1998 through an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature, it is widely known as NALSAR or NALSAR Hyderabad. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has received an “A” grade with a score of 3.60 from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In the NIRF 2024 rankings, NALSAR is placed 3rd in the law category.

The University provides full-time undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma programs across various fields of Law and Management. In addition to full-time programs, the University also offers part-time courses through the NALSAR Directorate of Distance Education (DDE). Full-time courses are available through nine distinct centers, including the Centre for Constitutional Law, Centre for Family Laws, Centre for Legal Philosophy, and others. Can I get admission in NALSAR without CLAT?

NALSAR University of Law, don’t offer admission to BA LLB and LLM programmes without a valid CLAT score. Candidates looking forward to practising law in India, are required to clear the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) that is conducted by BCI. On clearing the AIBE exam, lawyers are awarded a ‘Certificate of Practice’ which is mandatory for practising the profession as an advocate in India. However, aspirants who wish to apply for MBA or BBA may not require CLAT and can get admission based on other accepted entrance exams.
