The National Institute of Fashion Technology Delhi, often referred to as NIFT Delhi, was founded in 1986. This public institution is situated in Hauz Khas, Delhi. At its inception, the institute provided just one Fashion Design course from a temporary setup consisting of two rooms. In 1994, NIFT Delhi moved to its permanent campus, which was designed by Dr. BV Doshi. NIFT was established under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and operates as a Statutory Institute governed by the NIFT Act of 2006. Presently, it boasts 18 campuses across the nation, including NIFT Chennai, NIFT Bengaluru, NIFT Patna, NIFT Gandhinagar, NIFT Hyderabad, and NIFT Kolkata, among others.
