BITS Pilani Concludes 2026 Admissions: Cutoffs Rise as 3,181 Students Secure Seats

BITS Pilani has officially concluded its admission process for the 2026 academic session, welcoming a new cohort of 3,181 students. The highly competitive cycle saw the institute receive more than 1.60 lakh unique applications, with the final intake representing approximately the top 2% of the total applicant pool. This year’s admission data highlights a significant rise in entry requirements, with cutoffs increasing across several Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and Pharmacy (PCB) programmes.

The demographic breakdown of the admitted students shows that 2,723 are male and 449 are female. Additionally, the institute saw an uptick in international participation through its International Student Admissions (ISA) route, which admitted 150 students this year, up from 143 in the previous cycle. The United States continues to be the primary source for the institute's international student population.

Rising Cutoffs and Financial Support Initiatives

The 2026 admission cycle was marked by a clear upward trend in BITSAT cutoffs. For PCM-based programmes, the lowest cutoff climbed to 220 marks, a notable increase from the 203 marks recorded in the previous year. Similarly, the BPharm programme saw its lowest cutoff rise significantly from 151 to 200 marks. Specific disciplines also experienced shifts; for instance, the cutoff for Environmental and Sustainability Engineering rose to 208 marks from 181, while the cutoff for MSc Biology increased to 217 marks from 203. The newly introduced BE Pharmaceutical Engineering programme concluded its cycle with a cutoff of 205 marks.

In addition to academic requirements, BITS Pilani placed a strong emphasis on financial accessibility. The institute implemented a tuition-blind admission policy for the top 500 BITSAT rankers, provided they met specific eligibility criteria, including an annual family income limit of Rs 20 lakh. This initiative resulted in a 62.5% increase in the number of top 500 rankers joining the institute with full tuition support compared to the previous year. Furthermore, 39 students were awarded the Tuition Blind Scholarship, which covers 100% of tuition fees for four years, contingent upon maintaining a required CGPA.

The institute also expanded its overall financial aid, with the total upfront scholarship support for a single semester rising to Rs 11.513 crore in 2026, up from Rs 10.131 crore in 2025. To further support students, BITS Pilani has increased the annual parental income threshold for its Merit-cum-Need (MCN) Scholarship from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, ensuring broader access to financial assistance for qualifying candidates.
