The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conclude the regular registration process for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 examination on November 5. Prospective candidates aiming to appear for this national-level eligibility test are advised to complete their application forms and process the required examination fees through the official website at csirnet.nta.nic.in before the deadline expires at 11:50 PM.

This examination serves as a critical gateway for individuals seeking eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions, Assistant Professor roles, and PhD admissions across various Indian universities and colleges. Officials have emphasised that simply registering on the portal or entering personal details is insufficient; candidates must ensure the entire application process, including the successful transaction of the examination fee, is finalised to be considered for the upcoming session.

Late Registration and Application Correction Details

For candidates who are unable to meet the initial November 5 deadline, the NTA has provided a grace period. Applications will continue to be accepted from November 6 through November 9, 2026, though these submissions will incur an additional late fee of INR 500. Following the conclusion of the registration period, the examination body will open a correction window from November 10 to November 12, allowing applicants to rectify any errors in their submitted forms.

The December 2026 session will cover five core science subjects: Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences and Bio-Technology; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences. Notably, this session incorporates a significant change in the Life Sciences examination structure, following the merger of the DBT-BET with the CSIR-UGC NET. The question papers for the exam will be provided in both English and Hindi. To apply, candidates must visit the official website, complete the registration to generate login credentials, fill in their academic and personal information, upload the necessary documents, and complete the online payment.
