Delhi University has announced the opening of undergraduate admissions for three additional colleges based on Class 12 marks, aiming to fill vacant seats. The colleges—Shyam Lal College, Rajdhani College, and Zakir Husain Delhi College (Evening)—have opted for this route after facing challenges in filling all their seats through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) admissions. This decision follows a similar move earlier this month, when Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhagini Nivedita College were also permitted to admit students based on their Class 12 results.
The decision to allow admissions based on Class 12 marks is a one-time exception, which has sparked criticism from some faculty members. Concerns have been raised about the potential creation of a parallel admission process while the CUET-based admission cycle is still ongoing. Despite the controversy, the colleges are moving forward with their admissions to ensure that all available seats are filled.
Shyam Lal College is accepting applications for three undergraduate programs: BSc in Physical Science with Chemistry, BSc in Physical Science with Electronics, and BA (Hons) in Hindi. The deadline for submitting applications is August 21, and the college has specified that the admission fee must be paid on the same day as the physical document verification.
Rajdhani College has also opened merit-based admissions for several undergraduate programs, including BA (Hons) in Sanskrit, BSc (Hons) in Physics, and BSc (Programme) in Physical Science with Chemistry. Students can submit their applications until August 24 at 5 PM, with the merit list set to be released on August 25. Document verification and admission confirmation for selected candidates will occur on August 27 and 28.
Meanwhile, Zakir Husain Delhi College (Evening) has opened admissions for various undergraduate programs, particularly in language and humanities. The college is accepting applications for BA (Hons) in Persian, Sanskrit, and Urdu, as well as BA (Programme) combinations involving Arabic, Bengali, Persian, Sanskrit, or Urdu alongside History or Political Science. The last date to apply is August 23, as the college aims to attract students to its diverse offerings.
