The University of Delhi has officially launched its Financial Support Scheme (FSS) for the 2026-27 academic year, aimed at providing economic assistance to students enrolled in various postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. Administered by the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), the initiative seeks to alleviate the financial burden on students by offering significant fee waivers based on their annual family income.
Interested and eligible candidates are required to submit their applications through the official DSW portal at dsw.du.ac.in/financial-support-scheme. The university has set a deadline of October 13, 2026, for the submission of online applications. While the online process is currently underway, the university has noted that the schedule for submitting physical copies of the application forms and supporting documentation to the DSW office will be communicated at a later date.
The financial assistance provided under the scheme is tiered based on the annual family income of the applicant. Students falling into Category I, with an annual family income between INR 0 and INR 4 lakh, are eligible for a 100% fee waiver, capped at a maximum of INR 15,000. For students in Category II, whose annual family income ranges from above INR 4 lakh to INR 8 lakh, the university offers a 50% fee waiver, capped at a maximum of INR 10,000.
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must be full-time bonafide students at a Department, Institute, or Centre of the University of Delhi. The university has explicitly excluded several groups from this support, including students enrolled in colleges, BTech programmes (with the exception of the Cluster Innovation Centre), the Five-Year Integrated Law Programme, the School of Open Learning (SOL), and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). Furthermore, students who have an Essential Repeat (ER) in any previous examination are ineligible to apply.
Applicants must prepare a comprehensive set of documents to support their claims. These include an income certificate or EWS/OBC-NCL certificate for the 2025-26 financial year issued by a competent authority; notary-signed income certificates will not be accepted. Additionally, students must provide self-attested copies of the latest Income Tax Returns (2025-26) for family members, PAN cards, a bonafide certificate signed by the Head or Director of their respective institute, a copy of their latest fee receipt, and a marksheet from their most recent examination.
A self-attested copy of the bank passbook, clearly displaying the student's name, account number, and IFSC code, is also mandatory for the disbursement of funds. Applicants are advised to ensure that all information provided in the online form is accurate and aligns with their supporting documents. The university has also mandated the submission of an undertaking form, which is available in the prescribed format on the DSW website.
