The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially concluded the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. Following the final deadline for submissions, which included a late fee window that ended on October 12, 2026, the examination authority is now preparing to open the application correction portal for registered candidates.

The correction window is scheduled to commence on October 14, 2026, providing applicants with a dedicated period to rectify errors or update information in their submitted forms. This phase is critical for ensuring that all candidate data is accurate before the examination process proceeds to the next stage. The portal will remain active for modifications until October 21, 2026.

Guidelines for GATE 2027 Application Corrections

During the designated correction period, candidates can log in to the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in using their enrollment ID and password. Once logged in, applicants can access their application dashboard to select the specific fields they wish to modify. After making the necessary changes, candidates must pay the required fee and resubmit their application to finalize the updates.

The correction facility allows for adjustments to several key details, including gender, candidate name, category, and Person with Benchmark Disability (PwD) status. For name changes, applicants are required to upload supporting documentation in PDF format, with file sizes restricted between 10 KB and 600 KB. Additionally, candidates may update their address, college information, exam paper selections, and preferred examination cities, provided these changes align with the official guidelines.

Fee Structure for Application Modifications

IIT Madras has implemented a structured fee system for the correction process. A non-refundable fee of INR 500 is applicable for each particular edited in the application form. However, specific changes involving category shifts, gender updates, or modifications to PwD and dyslexia status incur a higher fee of INR 1,500, which comprises the base correction fee of INR 500 plus an additional charge of INR 1,000.

Candidates are advised to review their application details thoroughly during this window, as this represents the primary opportunity to fix any defects flagged during the initial scrutiny process. All modifications must be completed by the final deadline of October 21, 2026, to ensure the validity of the application for the upcoming GATE 2027 examination.
