The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially opened the application form correction window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 today. Candidates who have already completed their registration process now have the opportunity to review and modify specific information submitted in their application forms.

This correction facility is accessible through the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The window will remain operational for a limited period, providing applicants with a window of opportunity to rectify any errors before the examination process moves to the next stage. The deadline for making these modifications is October 21, 2026.

How to Modify GATE 2027 Application Details

To initiate the correction process, candidates must visit the official website and log in to their GOAPS dashboard using their registered enrolment ID and password. Once logged in, applicants will find an option to edit their application details. After selecting the specific fields that require updates, candidates must save their changes and complete the process by paying any applicable fees, if required.

It is important for candidates to note that not all fields are editable. While the system allows for changes to personal details such as name, gender, category, PwD status, dyslexic status, address, and exam city, certain critical information remains locked. Specifically, candidates are restricted from changing their registered mobile number, email ID, or the uploaded photograph and signature.

Correction Fees and Payment Guidelines

IIT Madras has implemented a tiered fee structure for the correction process. A fee of INR 500 is applicable for modifications related to the candidate's name, date of birth, category, or existing paper. For changes involving category, PwD status, or gender, the fee is set at INR 500 plus an additional INR 1,000. Conversely, there is no fee charged for updating details concerning parents or guardians, correspondence addresses, college information, or qualifying degree details.

Payments for these corrections can be processed through various digital modes, including net banking, credit cards, debit cards, or UPI wallets. Candidates are advised to ensure all information is accurate before final submission, as this is a time-bound opportunity. The correction window will officially close on October 21, 2026.
