IIT Madras is set to commence the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 starting tomorrow. Aspiring candidates are encouraged to prepare the necessary documents ahead of time to ensure a smooth application process. The GATE application form will be available on the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in, where candidates can find detailed information regarding registration requirements, fee structures, and eligibility criteria.
To successfully register for GATE 2027, candidates must have several key documents ready. This includes a recent photograph, signature, and relevant certificates. Additionally, applicants should ensure that their mobile number and email address are active and match the information registered in their DigiLocker accounts. For those who have not yet created a DigiLocker account, it is advisable to sign up prior to the registration date, as IIT Madras will retrieve essential details such as name, date of birth, and verified ID number from this platform.
Furthermore, candidates will need access to a laptop with a webcam or a smartphone equipped with a minimum 5MP camera for facial recognition during the registration process. It is also important for applicants from reserved categories to have an updated category certificate, as well as any necessary documentation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) or Dyslexic candidates. A valid photo ID, such as a PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driving License, must also be scanned and submitted in PDF format.
The GATE application will only be processed upon successful payment of the registration fee. During the regular registration period, female candidates, as well as those from SC/ST and PwD categories, will be required to pay INR 1,000, while all other candidates will pay INR 1,500. For the extended registration period, the fees will increase to INR 1,500 for female, SC/ST, and PwD candidates, and INR 2,500 for all others, including international applicants.
Registration for GATE 2027 will be open from August 14 to September 21, 2026, for those paying regular fees, while the extended registration period will run from September 22 to September 30, 2026. Candidates are advised to select at least six test cities to facilitate a quicker submission process.
