HNBUMU Cancels 15 MBBS Admissions Following Verification of Fake Certificates

The Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU) has officially cancelled the provisional MBBS admissions of 15 candidates. This administrative action follows a rigorous document verification process conducted during the third round of the Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 counselling, where the submitted certificates were found to be invalid.

University officials confirmed that the affected candidates had sought admission to five government medical colleges across the state. The cancellations were triggered after the students' domicile, category, and sub-category certificates failed to pass the mandatory verification checks. As a result, the university has declared that these individuals no longer hold any claim to their previously allotted seats.

Investigation into Certificate Fraud and Administrative Oversight

The decision to revoke these admissions is part of a broader investigation into the use of fraudulent documentation, specifically involving fake freedom fighter certificates. This probe has already led to the involvement of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and resulted in several arrests. Furthermore, state authorities have taken disciplinary action against two revenue sub-inspectors, suspending them for negligence during the document verification process.

The impacted students had applied for seats under various reserved categories, including Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and orphan quotas. The university has been working closely with district magistrates, who have provided detailed verification reports to assist in the ongoing inquiry. University officials have reiterated that all admissions for the NEET UG 2026 third round remain strictly provisional and are subject to comprehensive scrutiny. As the investigation continues, the university is expected to provide further updates and revised lists on its official portal.
