IISER Bhopal Opens PhD Admissions for January 2027 Session

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal has officially commenced the application process for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes for the upcoming January 2027 academic session. Prospective students who meet the necessary academic requirements are invited to submit their applications through the institute's dedicated online portal.

Candidates interested in pursuing doctoral research at the institution must complete their registration via the official website at phdadmission.iiserb.ac.in. The institute has set a firm deadline for submissions, requiring all applications to be completed and submitted no later than October 12, 2026.

Programme Offerings and Eligibility Criteria

The PhD programmes at IISER Bhopal span a diverse range of disciplines, categorised under Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Within the Natural Sciences stream, the institute offers research opportunities in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Sciences. The Engineering Sciences department includes Chemical Engineering, Data Science, and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), while the Humanities and Social Sciences stream covers Economic Sciences and other HSS subjects.

To be considered for admission, applicants must hold either a bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, or a master’s degree in Science or Arts. A minimum academic performance of 60% marks or a 7.0 CGPA is required for eligibility. Furthermore, the institute has established an age limit of 28 years for applicants. However, age relaxations are available for specific categories: a three-year relaxation is provided for OBC candidates, while a five-year relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, PD, and female applicants.
