The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has officially extended the registration deadline for the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027. Prospective candidates now have until November 5, 2026, to submit their applications without the requirement of paying an additional late fee.

This extension provides a brief window of extra time for students who missed the original October 31 deadline. Those who intend to pursue postgraduate design programmes at participating institutions are encouraged to complete their registration through the official portal at ceed.iitb.ac.in before the new cutoff date to avoid the financial penalty associated with the late-fee window.

Application Process and Examination Details

To register for the examination, candidates should visit the official CEED website and navigate to the registration link. New users must first complete the registration process to generate their credentials, while existing users can log in directly to access their application forms. The submission process requires candidates to provide accurate personal and academic information, upload the necessary supporting documents, and complete the fee payment.

Following the conclusion of the registration phase, IIT Bombay is set to conduct the CEED 2027 examination on January 17, 2027. The test will take place in a single session from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The assessment is structured into two distinct sections, Part A and Part B, both of which must be attempted by all candidates.

Examination Format and Structure

The examination is designed to test a comprehensive range of skills required for advanced design studies. Part A consists of objective-type questions, which include a mix of Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and Multiple Select Questions (MSQ). This section is intended to evaluate the candidate's analytical and technical aptitude.

In contrast, Part B focuses on the creative and practical aspects of design. This section comprises five questions specifically crafted to assess a candidate's proficiency in drawing, design thinking, and writing. Candidates are reminded that successful completion of both parts is mandatory for the evaluation process. For those who are unable to meet the November 5 deadline, the institute has indicated that a late-fee window will remain available for subsequent submissions.
