IIT Delhi and AcSIR Partner to Boost Collaborative Research and Student Exchange

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) have officially entered into a strategic partnership to enhance academic and research cooperation. By signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two institutions aim to integrate their respective expertise and leverage the extensive network of research facilities associated with AcSIR to foster a more collaborative academic environment.

This agreement is designed to bridge the gap between institutional resources, allowing for a seamless exchange of knowledge and infrastructure. Both students and faculty members are expected to benefit from the expanded access to diverse research environments, enabling them to engage with experts across a broader spectrum of scientific and technological fields.

Key Features of the Institutional Collaboration

A central component of this partnership is the provision for the joint supervision of postgraduate students, specifically those enrolled in PhD, M.Tech, and MS(R) programs. Under this arrangement, students will be guided by a dual-supervision model, with at least one supervisor appointed from IIT Delhi and another from an AcSIR-affiliated research institute. This structure is intended to provide students with a comprehensive research experience that draws on the strengths of both organizations.

Beyond supervision, the MoU facilitates greater mobility for the academic community. Postgraduate students and research scholars will have the opportunity to undertake coursework and conduct research at either institution. A significant benefit for these students is the waiver of separate admission requirements and tuition fees at the host institution for these collaborative activities. Furthermore, the agreement encourages academic visits for both faculty members and researchers, promoting a culture of shared learning and professional development.

Expanding Research Horizons

The collaboration extends to faculty and researchers from various entities, including those associated with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). By aligning their research interests, faculty members from IIT Delhi and researchers from AcSIR-associated institutes can now initiate joint projects and explore new avenues for academic inquiry.

This partnership establishes a formal framework for sharing specialized facilities and intellectual resources.
