The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has officially opened the application process for its four-year undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) programmes for the 2026-27 Spring intake. Managed through the institute's Centre for Educational Technology (CET), these programmes are designed to provide specialised training in high-demand technical fields through a hybrid learning model.

Prospective students can now apply for two distinct streams: the BS in Artificial Intelligence & Cybersecurity and the BS in Computer Science & Data Analytics. Each programme has an intake capacity of 240 seats, offering a total of 480 spots for the upcoming academic session. The curriculum is structured to accommodate learners seeking flexibility, allowing them to balance their studies with other commitments.

Programme Structure and Flexible Exit Options

A key feature of these undergraduate offerings is the modular design, which provides students with multiple exit points throughout the duration of the course. This structure allows participants to earn academic credentials based on the number of years completed. Students who finish one year receive a Foundation Certificate, while those who complete two years are awarded a Diploma. A three-year completion leads to a BSc (Hons) degree, and the full four-year programme results in a BS degree. Additionally, the institute provides an option to pursue a BS-MS dual degree after five years of study.

Beyond the core curriculum, the programmes incorporate a variety of electives in emerging technology domains. Students have the opportunity to specialise in areas such as Generative AI, Product Management, Software Engineering, Data Science and Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering.

Application Timeline and Admission Process

Candidates interested in these programmes must complete their registration through the official IIT Patna Centre for Educational Technology admission portal. The application process requires students to select their preferred programme, submit personal and academic details, and upload the necessary documentation.

The institute has released a specific schedule for the 2026-27 Spring intake. The deadline for submitting applications is September 30, 2026. Following the registration phase, admission decisions are scheduled to be announced on October 1, 2026. Shortlisted candidates will then be required to participate in the IITP-SAT, which is slated to take place between October 4 and October 5, 2026. Applicants are encouraged to monitor the admission portal regularly for updates regarding virtual counselling and further instructions.
