The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has officially released the comprehensive exam pattern for the 2027 SSLC and 2nd PUC examinations. Following the release of the tentative timetable on October 8, 2026, the board has provided clarity on subject-specific maximum marks, total duration, and examination timings for both Exam 1 and Exam 2.

Students preparing for these board examinations are advised to note that the structure remains consistent across both attempts. While the majority of papers follow a standard format, specific subjects in both the SSLC and 2nd PUC streams feature variations in marks and duration to accommodate practical or vocational requirements.

Karnataka 2nd PUC and SSLC Exam Structure Details

For the 2nd PUC examinations, most subjects are evaluated out of 80 marks with a three-hour duration, typically scheduled from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. However, subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics, and Home Science are capped at 70 marks. Vocational (NSQF) papers and Hindustani Music carry 60 and 40 marks respectively, with a duration of two hours and 15 minutes. Notably, while Exam 1 for these specific subjects is held in the morning session, Exam 2 is scheduled for the afternoon, from 2:00 PM to 4:15 PM.

In the SSLC stream, the First Language paper is assessed out of 100 marks, while core subjects like Science, Mathematics, and Social Science are set at 80 marks. A significant feature for SSLC candidates is the inclusion of a 15-minute reading period prior to the start of the examination. Most SSLC papers are conducted between 10:00 AM and 1:15 PM. For Music subjects, the examination is divided into a theory component and a practical session, with the overall process concluding by 5:15 PM.

The board has also confirmed provisions for differently-abled students, including allocated extra time based on the length of the paper. Furthermore, specific arrangements have been made for JTS subjects, with practical and oral examinations scheduled for April 6, 2027, for Exam 1, and June 1, 2027, for Exam 2. Students are encouraged to review these subject-wise specifications carefully to align their preparation with the official KSEAB guidelines.
