The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has officially announced a 5% increase in examination fees for the upcoming SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) examinations for the 2026-27 academic year. This adjustment in the fee structure will apply to all categories of candidates, including regular students appearing for the first time, private candidates, and those repeating the examination.
Students preparing for the 2027 board examinations will need to account for this revised cost when completing their registration process. While the board has yet to release the formal examination schedule, it is widely anticipated that the Karnataka SSLC exams will be conducted in March 2027.
Under the updated guidelines, the examination fee for regular students appearing for the SSLC exam for the first time has been adjusted from INR 710 to INR 746. Private candidates registering for the first time will now be required to pay INR 260, an increase from the previous fee of INR 248. For candidates who have previously registered and are seeking to renew their registration, the fee has been set at INR 76, up from INR 72.
The board has also implemented specific fee adjustments for repeater candidates based on the number of subjects they intend to appear for. Students opting to take the examination for a single subject will now pay INR 470, while those appearing for two subjects will be charged INR 587. For candidates appearing for three or more subjects, the revised fee is set at INR 790. These changes are part of the board's updated administrative requirements for the 2026-27 academic session.
The Karnataka SSLC examination is structured with a total of 625 marks. The assessment format typically includes a 100-mark written paper for the first language, while other subjects are generally divided into 80 marks for the written examination and 20 marks for internal assessments. As the board prepares for the upcoming cycle, students are encouraged to focus on their academic preparations by reviewing core concepts and utilizing previous years' question papers to familiarise themselves with the exam pattern.
While the fee notification has been issued, students should remain attentive to future announcements from KSEAB regarding the official examination timetable and registration deadlines. Candidates are advised to consult with their respective school authorities or the official KSEAB portal for further updates as the examination season approaches.
