MAHA TET 2026: MSCE Yet to Announce Revised Exam Schedule Following Postponement

The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) has confirmed that a new date for the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) 2026 remains pending. As of September 24, 2026, the official examination portal continues to display a notification regarding the postponement of the June 2026 examination, with no updated schedule available for either Paper I or Paper II.

The examination was originally slated to take place on June 28, 2026, across more than 1,000 centres throughout the state. However, authorities made the decision to postpone the test on June 27, just one day before the scheduled date. This action followed reports regarding the alleged circulation of question papers in the Bhiwandi area of Thane, which prompted police intervention and an official investigation to ensure the integrity and transparency of the recruitment process.

Status of Registration and Exam Procedures

For candidates who had already completed their registration for the 2026 cycle, the MSCE has clarified that no fresh application or additional fee payment will be required when the exam is rescheduled. Officials have advised registered applicants to remain patient and avoid relying on unofficial information or dates circulating on social media platforms. The only valid examination schedule will be the one formally issued by the MSCE on its official website.

Once the revised timetable is published, the council is expected to provide comprehensive details regarding the new exam date, reporting times, shift timings, and the distribution of examination centres. Information concerning the issuance of fresh admit cards will also be communicated through the official portal once the new schedule is finalised.

Exam Format and Qualifying Criteria

The MAHA TET is conducted in an offline, pen-and-paper format, requiring candidates to record their responses on OMR sheets using a ballpoint pen. To successfully clear the examination and receive an eligibility certificate, candidates must meet specific minimum qualifying marks based on their category. General category candidates are required to secure a minimum of 60 percent, while candidates from reserved categories must achieve at least 55 percent.
