The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has officially released the results for the third round of NEET UG counselling for MBBS admissions. The latest data reveals a notable divergence in admission trends between government-run medical institutions and private colleges across the state, providing a clearer picture for candidates navigating the final stages of the seat allocation process.
According to the official notification, the cut-off for private MBBS colleges in Maharashtra has seen a significant decline, reaching 443 marks for the open category. This shift offers a vital opportunity for students who were unable to secure a seat in earlier rounds but hold competitive scores. Conversely, the demand for government medical seats remains intense, with the closing score for general category candidates at state-run institutions settling at 534 marks.
The counselling process for the 2026 academic session has been highly efficient, with the State CET Cell reporting that 8,811 out of the 8,814 available seats have been successfully allotted. This high occupancy rate underscores the competitive nature of medical admissions in the state this year. Data provided by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) further illustrates the gap between public and private sector requirements; for instance, the OBC category cut-off for government colleges closed at 529 marks, while the corresponding threshold for private institutions dropped to 429 marks.
Candidates who have been allotted seats in this round are now required to complete the mandatory reporting and document verification process. The State CET Cell has set a deadline of October 14 for these formalities. It is essential for all selected students to adhere to this timeline to confirm their admission and secure their allotted seats. Failure to complete the reporting process within the stipulated timeframe may result in the forfeiture of the seat, as the authorities move to finalize the current phase of the admission cycle.
