The All India Management Association (AIMA) has initiated the release of results for the September 2026 Management Aptitude Test (MAT). Candidates who participated in the Paper-Based Test (PBT) on September 13 or the Computer-Based Test (CBT) on September 20 can now download their official scorecards directly from the AIMA MAT website. These results are valid for admissions into the 2027 MBA academic intake.
With the results now available, students are encouraged to begin the process of shortlisting institutions that align with their performance. Understanding the relationship between composite scores and percentiles is essential for identifying suitable colleges, as admission criteria vary significantly across the more than 700 management institutions that accept MAT scores in India.
For many applicants, determining what constitutes a competitive score is the first step in the post-exam phase. Generally, a composite score of 750 or higher corresponds to a 95+ percentile, which is considered an excellent result for top-tier business schools. Institutions with high academic standards typically set their cut-offs within the 90 to 95 percentile range.
For a broader range of Tier 2 institutions, a score between 600 and 650, representing the 80 to 90 percentile bracket, is widely regarded as a strong and safe score for securing admission. Candidates scoring between 650 and 700 generally fall into the 90+ percentile category, which is classified as very good. Conversely, scores below 500, which typically equate to under the 70th percentile, are considered average and may limit the number of available options during the application process.
Numerous reputable business schools across India utilize MAT percentiles as a primary filter for their selection process. For instance, institutions such as the Amity Business School in Noida often look for candidates in the 90+ percentile range. Meanwhile, a significant number of other prominent colleges, including Christ University in Bengaluru, BIMTECH in Greater Noida, and the Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) in Rohini, typically maintain cut-offs in the 80 to 90 percentile range.
Other notable institutions, such as the New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM), the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) in Hyderabad, and ITM Business School in Navi Mumbai, generally accept candidates within the 80 to 85 percentile bracket. As the admission cycle for the 2027 batch progresses, candidates are advised to review the specific eligibility, placement records, and application deadlines for their preferred colleges to ensure their applications are submitted in a timely manner.
