MHT CET 2026 CAP Round 2 Cutoff: COEP Computer Science and Engineering, VJTI Information Technology Surpass 99.9 Percentile

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) Cell has announced the cutoffs for the second round of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for 2026, revealing a highly competitive landscape for first-year engineering admissions. The cutoffs, released branch-wise for each participating college, indicate that programs in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence continue to attract significant interest, with some institutions maintaining exceptionally high cutoff scores. In contrast, several private and regional colleges have seen a decline in their cutoff figures.

Among the standout performers, the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) reported a remarkable cutoff of 99.97 percentile for its Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program in the General Open (GOPENS) category, with a corresponding Maharashtra State General Merit number of 170. The cutoffs for reserved and special categories were also notable, with the General Scheduled Caste (GSCS) closing at 98.97 percentile and the General Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (GSEBCS) and General Other Backward Classes (GOBCS) both exceeding 99.8 percentile. Other branches at COEP also demonstrated strong performance, with Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at 99.84 percentile and Electrical Engineering at 99.63 percentile.

Similarly, the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in Mumbai reported impressive cutoffs, particularly for its Information Technology program, which closed at a GOPENS percentile of 99.99. The State General Merit for this program was recorded at 75. The competitive nature of these programs underscores the ongoing demand for engineering education in Maharashtra, particularly in technology-driven fields.

In terms of All India rankings, COEP's Computer Science and Engineering program had an All India cutoff of 361, correlating to a JEE Main percentile of 99.27. The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program closed at an All India merit number of 413, with a corresponding percentile of 99.20. At the Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), the All India cutoff for Computer Engineering was set at rank 893, with a percentile of 98.69, while the AI and Data Science program closed at rank 999 with a percentile of 98.59.

The release of these cutoffs highlights the competitive nature of engineering admissions in Maharashtra, with students vying for limited seats in prestigious institutions.
